I stood in a doorway.

I know you're standing there
3,000 miles from here to there
I know you're standing there
The damage is done
Now the coast is clear
I know you're standing there
I'm opening my heart so you can come near

Hey Ya Hey Ya! Hear Ye Hear Ye!
I booked my first gig at The Pig N Whistle (no website) here in LA.
It's January 19th @ 8PM.
Tix at the door are $9.
I CAN'T WAIT TO SEE YOU THERE!
The Pig N Whistle is an Old Hollywood place that's been updated in recent years - right across from Hollywood + Highland.

More TAL (This American Life). Last week's podcast featured stories about people home alone. There was the woman who lived alone and died in the hospital some two weeks later. Apparently in LA there are 100 people who cover some 3,000 cases per year of people who die alone and whose families or loved ones have to be found. These investigators if you will, go through peoples homes searching for clues that will lead them to someone, anyone who knew the decedent. If there is no one the state settles your estate and you are given a group burial. Bodies are cremated and placed in containers where they wait to be claimed for up to four years. Then there is a group funeral for all those who are unclaimed.
This is kind of long. I'll just say this if you live alone leave a will, a letter, some set of instructions that can be carried out on your behalf.

WHOOPS! Made an appointment early this AM and thought that I gave myself enough time. NOPE! Traffic nightmares. Toodles.
I bought the car on a Tuesday. Returned that Friday to replace the stereo = CD player not working. Also had the back window tint replaced = not optically clear. Excitedly I could barely sleep, in anticipation of my journey. Saturday was as full as Friday had been. I packed relentlessly. I will remember it as a pleasant fall day. I shopped for food stuff. The store was under crowded. I thought about being at the Hollywood Farmer's Market. Would I find it the same?
I missed the warm weather, the sound of the ocean. I'd watch every show that takes place in LA. Even the ones that weren't really shot there, but were replicated in Vancouver or Toronto. Our faux Hollywood neighbors. There is something about the magic of make believe that still makes me believe.
