Dear Friends,
I read with glee the letter that Jake DeSantis wrote to Mr. Liddy, submitting his resignation to AIG.
The reason that I am joyful is that since I first learned of the $165m in bonuses paid by AIG I also learned that not all of the employees receiving bonuses were responsible for the financial debacle that we are in now.
In the past few days I have learned of protesters in CT standing outside of AIG bonus receivers homes - protesting as many Americans lose jobs, homes, and well just about everything.
I thank Jake DeSantis for coming forward and stating that his division is actually profitable in accountable dollars and he thought that his contract with AIG would be honored.
I think that we have all seen in the past 64 days as President Obama has stood by his "men and women" as the public and media have attacked their plans.
It is unfortunate that Mr. Liddy put all his eggs in one basket and had them labeled bad apples. While I understad that some executives are returning bonus monies on principal-SHAMING people into returning hard earned money is an unfortunate consequence of the larger debacle we are in.
Wall Street needs Main Street and vice versa.
Now if we could act as a country and stand by our people and our contract (The CONSTITUTION) with each other.
Thank You and Good Night,
Nyenye

“If you cut out the excess and extravagance, what you’ll have is a return to personal creativity, a rich creativity that has nothing to do with how much money you have.”
OK, so I'm always touting the latest Green Living idea, invention or convention that I think has value. Well today I
came across an article in the NYTimes about Pax World Funds. Apparently they are being sanctioned by the SEC for
failing to comply with their prospectus. The article states that Pax invested in companies involved in "alcohol,
ambling and military contracting." Their website states that " we believe sustainable investing is a better,
smarter way to invest, and helps us identify more forward-thinking, better managed companies" I have not read
their entire prospectus, but I have looked to their website as being one of the leaders in SRI (Socially Responsible
Investing) This a reminder to us all to vet every thing that comes our way.

These were the words spoken to me by a friend at the end of a performance.
Obama/Clinton? Clinton/Obama? Obama/Edwards? Clinton/Clinton?

I must admit to my fascination with this latest episode of financial shenanigans. Apparently France's most creative and security tight financial institution, Société Générale (A Bank) has a rogue trader in its midst. Jérome Kerviel enters into the hall of fame of the Joseph Jetts and Michael Milkens. Will Jérome be forgiven? Or will he go down with history and be forgotten in a generation.

DEAR Diary:
Central Park West and 86th Street at 7 o’clock on a chilly morning. There’s no bus in sight and I’m running too late to walk. Reluctantly, I flag down a taxi.
“Keep going downtown,” I tell the driver. “I’ll get off at 69th Street. And, by the way, I hope you can change a $20 bill. It’s all I’ve got with me.”
“Nope, I can’t. You’re my first fare today. I don’t have enough change.”
“Then hold the clock and let me out.” (I’ve already spotted another cab coming down the deserted avenue.)
“Sit tight, miss. I’ll get you there. You don’t need to pay.”
More than a little surprised, I ask the driver for his address, intending to send him the fare. But he won’t hear of it. “The next time you go to the mosque,” he says, “just put some money in the collection box.”
“Actually, I’m on my way to the synagogue to help distribute food to people in need.”
“You see what I mean, miss?” asks the driver, a happy grin on his face. “Money isn’t everything.”

Do you yell at store clerks? Are you always right? Do you need to speak with the manager?
A clip from the NYTimes article:
The guy at the register asked, “Would you like a bag for these?”
He was kidding, right... Who carries eight loose items? He asked again: Would I like a bag? I wanted to say: “No, I’m from Africa. I’ll just balance these on my head as I walk barefoot 126 miles to my village.” But the “new Paul” politely said, “Yes, I’d like a bag,” and I was on my way.
Two men wheeled there dead friend in a chair, to a check cashing place-to cash his check.
And they thought they would go unnoticed.
